Extra Damage Enchantments
This mod is a pack creation tool that appears as a regular enchantment addon. The main function of Extra Damage Enchantments is connecting datapacks to the "entity group" system similar to that used by standard enchantments like Smite. Additionally, the mod adds five new combat spells that work with this updated system.
One of the challenges when creating modpacks is that new mobs often don't fit into Minecraft's standard categories: undead, arthropods, and aquatic creatures. ExtraDE introduces five additional groups covering most use cases. Each category, including standard groupings, represents a datapack tag, creating a convenient compatibility layer for modpacks and allowing easy addition of new creatures.
The mod also includes special group icons for Provi's Health Bars. When using PHB, you'll get new personalized portraits on health bars.
New Groups and Enchantments
| Group | Enchantment | Entity Tag | Example Mobs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Humanoids | Rebel | extra-damage-enchantments:humanoid |
Players, Witches, Piglins |
| Outerworldly | Voidrender | extra-damage-enchantments:outerworldly |
Endermen, Shulkers, Ender Dragon |
| Arcane | Unravel | extra-damage-enchantments:arcane |
Allays, Blazes, Vexes |
| Fungifloral | Herbicide | extra-damage-enchantments:fungifloral |
Creepers, Wardens |
| Beastly | Butcher | extra-damage-enchantments:beastly |
Cows, Hoglins, Ravagers |
Each enchantment is incompatible with Sharpness, other enchantments from this mod, and standard combat spells like Smite. For PvP balancing, there's a special game rule that regulates the effectiveness of special (non-Sharpness) enchantments against players.
Working with Datapacks
ExtraDE allows adding any creatures (including mobs from other mods) to additional or even standard groups through Minecraft's tag system. Details can be found in the mod's wiki.
For Modpack Creators
You can freely include this mod in your packs. ExtraDE represents a hybrid between an enchantment system and a modpack tool.
Origins Addon
If you're creating a modpack with Origins, consider adding ExtraDE Origins Addon. This addon creates a new power type extrade:entity_group that allows assigning any Origin to one of the entity groups created by ExtraDE. This improves both roleplaying aspects and lore, as well as PvP balance, creating a universal weakness system for all participants. (By default, players are classified as "humanoids".)
