FastChest

Have you noticed how much performance drops in rooms with many chests? Minecraft really struggles with rendering them when placed in large quantities.

This mod solves the problem by replacing chests' dynamic models with static chunk geometry, like most regular blocks. However, note that chests lose their lid opening animation in the process. If this detail is important to you, consider alternative solutions like Enhanced Block Entities.

The mod's effectiveness directly depends on the number of chests in your world. In large storage areas, it can double your FPS, but remember that chests aren't the only factor affecting performance.

Compatibility and Settings

FastChest works well with Sodium and Optifine, and is compatible with most mods and resource packs that don't modify chests. For example, the Vanilla Tweaks Proper Break Particles resource pack is initially incompatible because it overrides chest block states.

To fix this issue, delete the files chest.json, ender_chest.json, and trapped_chest.json from the /assets/minecraft/blockstates directory in your resource pack folder.
