Fire Smelting
The Fire Smelting modification completely changes the familiar item smelting process in Minecraft. Instead of using the traditional furnace, you can smelt resources in a completely new way - using fire sources.
How it works
Any item falling into fire sources (lava, burning blocks, and other objects dealing fire damage) doesn't burn away but attempts to smelt. This creates a unique and atmospheric way to process materials directly in dungeons or dangerous areas.
Main rules
For successful smelting, the item must have a corresponding furnace recipe. If no recipe exists, the object will burn in fire as usual. Upon successful transformation, a new item entity with fire resistance is created - it can no longer be damaged by fire exposure until picked up by the player.
An interesting nuance: when you throw multiple items at once, only one of them gets smelted, while the rest split into separate stacks without fire resistance.
Additional features
The mod introduces a special recipe type called firesmelting:fire_smelting, aimed at pack creators. These recipes are fully supported by JEI and work on the same principles as regular furnace smelting.
Important note: if there's a conflict between a regular furnace recipe and a special fire smelting recipe, priority is given to the latter option.
