Fly High
This mod adds realistic behavioral features for flies from Alex's Mobs, making the game world more alive and interconnected. All features are configurable and enabled by default.
Behavioral Features
Flies now exhibit feeding instincts - they can land on various food items and "eat" them. If an insect feeds long enough, it has a chance to enter breeding mode. When players approach, flies scatter from the food source.
Cross-mod Interactions
World Spawning
Flies rarely spawn near dirty chimpanzees (requires Neapolitan) and around organic compost (requires Farmer's Delight). Humid biomes increase the chance of insects appearing near compost. Guano blocks from Alex's Caves are also supported.
Capturing and Storage
With Buzzier Bees installed, flies can be captured in glass jars. Dispenser functionality is also included for automation.
Natural Predators
Flies are attracted to flytraps from Alex's Caves. The plants can snap shut, eliminating the insects. A client-side option is available for snapping sounds similar to evoker fangs.
Block Tag System
fly_high:fly_food
Blocks that attract flies as food sources: cakes, jam blocks, rotten flesh blocks, meat blocks, and others. Automatically compatible with mods adding feast items through the farmersdelight:mineable/knives tag.
fly_high:fly_food_blacklist
Excludes blocks that accidentally ended up in the fly food category (such as carpets, cobwebs). Add blocks here that shouldn't attract insects.
fly_high:fly_paper
Blocks that attract flies but aren't food: cobwebs, flytraps from Alex's Caves, and others.
Technical Requirements
Required dependencies: Citadel and Alex's Mobs. The mod supports numerous additional optional dependencies for extended functionality.
The developer expresses gratitude to the Naturalist project for the MIT license, which allowed using ButterflyPollinateGoal as a basis for FlyMunchGoal.
