Food Overhaul
This mod completely transforms the food system in Minecraft. Food no longer restores the hunger bar and saturation as in the original game. Instead, each food item provides the player with a unique status effect that affects various character attributes.
How the System Works
Different types of food provide various bonuses. Simple foods can increase health or stamina, while more exotic products grant special abilities like frost resistance or other elemental protections. Most of these attributes are implemented through compatibility with other mods, including health, mana, damage, and stamina systems.
Limitations and Balance
The player can only have a limited number of active food effects simultaneously. By default, this limit is 3 effects, but it can be configured through the generic.max_food_effects parameter. When the limit is reached, the character cannot consume new food until space becomes available.
This mechanic forces players to approach food selection strategically, choosing the most suitable products for current situations and environmental conditions. Instead of constantly eating the same golden carrots, you'll select food based on upcoming tasks and surroundings.
Effect Management
When a food effect is about to expire, the corresponding food item can be consumed again. The threshold value after which this becomes possible is configurable in server settings. If you need to reset all active food effects, you can eat rotten flesh - this instantly removes all current food bonuses.
