Geotagged Screenshots - Smart Screenshot Organization in Minecraft

Have you ever thought about how to make gaming moments truly memorable? This mod turns ordinary screenshots into interactive memories tied to specific locations.

The Problem with Standard Screenshots

In standard Minecraft, all taken screenshots are saved in a single folder without any contextual information. This creates difficulties when searching for specific shots from a particular world or special location. Our mod solves this problem by allowing players to virtually return to visited locations.

How It Works

When creating a new screenshot, the mod automatically adds metadata about your in-game location to the file. Additionally, new waypoints are created in Xaero's World Map and Minimap at the exact same location, placed in a separate set: Geotagged Screenshots.

This data is used to display screenshots directly on Xaero's world map. All shots can be viewed in full-screen mode with a simple mouse click. Both mods - Xaero's World Map and Minimap - are required dependencies.

Added Metadata

Geotagged Screenshots currently adds the following information to new screenshots:

• Unique screenshot identifier
• World identifier where the shot was taken
• Player coordinates at creation time
• Dimension identifier

A separate folder for thumbnails is also created (each file contains the same metadata as the original). These thumbnails are used for display on the world map, while full-size screenshots are loaded only for full-screen viewing.

Important Notes

• The mod has been thoroughly tested but is still in beta version. Report any discovered errors.
• The project is not affiliated with or officially supported by Xaero's World Map/Minimap developers.
• Geotagged Screenshots tries to be as unobtrusive as possible, but compatibility with Xaero maps required making its own changes. Before reporting errors to Xaero, make sure the problem persists without Geotagged Screenshots installed.
• Removing a screenshot waypoint will cause it to disappear from the world map.

Current Limitations and Plans

• Location metadata is only added to new screenshots. The function to enrich existing shots will be added in the future.
• A customizable configuration file is under development.
