Glidelytra: An Elytra Rebalance Mod
Glidelytra is a Minecraft modification for the Fabric platform that fundamentally changes the balance of elytras, making their use more interesting and balanced. The mod is in active development, so some features may change in future versions.
Main Features
Inspired by the Glide minigame from legacy console versions of Minecraft, this mod adds special boost rings to the game. These multiblock structures give you additional acceleration when you fly over them. After receiving a boost, you get a status effect that reduces air resistance while gliding.

Mechanics Changes
Fireworks now have a cooldown time that gradually increases depending on flight duration. Elytras slowly regenerate durability when you're not using them for flight. When taking damage from projectiles or explosions, the elytra temporarily deactivates, preventing quick escapes in PvP battles and making it harder for snipers to shoot down gliding players.
Fireworks provide additional acceleration below 90 blocks in height, with the effect strengthening as you approach sea level. Elytras generally have reduced gravity and less air resistance.
Usage Strategy
To achieve maximum efficiency, you'll need to build a network of boost rings to maintain flight speed. These structures are most effective at high altitudes, with sea level (y63) serving as the baseline reference. Elytras gradually lose durability during flight, so it's important to reach your destination quickly. Fireworks remain useful for short distances and gaining altitude, but the elytra will no longer be a tool for rapidly exploring uncharted territories, as it will require regular breaks for durability regeneration.
Additional Content
The mod includes 7 music discs with soundtracks from the Glide minigame (by Gareth Coker). These compositions are in the "Minecraft Creator-safe" playlist, so their use is assumed to be permitted. This content is considered beta and may be removed in future updates.
The mod also contains basic configuration settings that allow you to adapt it to your preferences.
