About the Mod
Glowroot is a modification that creates a completely new underground cave biome, specifically designed to reveal the history and origins of glow squids that appeared in Minecraft after the 2020 vote. Utilizing the unique properties of these creatures, the mod adds glowing Glowroot Caves to the game, which expand the lore and provide players with an engaging backstory about the appearance of glow squids in their world.
The video below provides a look at some of the mod's features and mechanics.

New Caves

The main innovation of the mod is the glowing Glowroot Caves! This bright luminous biome appears in the underground of the ordinary world, usually at lower cave levels. These illuminated caves are home to many new glowing plants and flowers, mobs, and various technological developments.

(See photos of actual caves in the gallery!)
Using the energy of light from surface trees, these caves recycle this energy through root systems to illuminate and grow local flora. Ancient scientists were able to master this energy to create technological achievements that can be discovered in the caves. You can use the power of glowing plants through the Glowroot Node to form rare chrysoprase crystals. Use new materials found in the caves to create many rare technological devices that will make resource mining easier! From mining helmets and flashlights to cannons - there are many new equipment items available for crafting that will make your mineral extraction more efficient. Explore the caves and discover all available craftable items!
New Mobs

The mod adds several new creatures that can spawn in this biome! All of them have unique properties and abilities - some can blind players, others can mine blocks for you! All mobs and their names are presented below:

Mobs and their functions:

Glowroot Golem - a peaceful mob that can be tamed using leaves and petals from the caves. It can be ridden even without a saddle, and it repels enemies with its large horns. If you right-click with a drill head on the golem, it will start mining blocks in front of it while riding!

Glowroot Zombie - a hostile common mob, usually wandering through caves. They can also appear naturally when a regular zombie stands too long on Glowrooted stone. They apply a blinding effect to enemies and cause a powerful explosion upon death. Be careful!

Glowroot Quadcopter - a hostile flying mob, particularly quiet but dangerous. If you get too close, it will try to hover above you and drop light grenades. Don't forget to bring a bow!

Glowroot Hermit - a hostile small creature, as cute as it is deadly. It will try to grab you with the claws on its head as if you were an item. You can try to jam its claws by dropping your own items, but that won't stop it. If you get stuck, press Shift to try to escape!
New Mechanics

Glowroot features various new mechanics that can be created and used, mainly through new energy systems. Using chrysoprase - a rare crystal found in caves and created from light, as well as natural stone and cave flora, you can create new items through a process of forging and smelting. You can purify impure items and blocks to their purest forms and use them to create powerful new items, blocks, and other things. Explore the caves, study ancient systems, and discover the usefulness of these new mechanics!
