Goldfish myth

This modification was created in one day as a small break from working on a larger project. It adds just one new inhabitant to the game - a golden fish that can be caught with a regular fishing rod.

When you catch the golden fish, you'll face an interesting choice. You can cook it, but it will provide very little saturation even when cooked. Or you can release the fish back into the water - this is where the real magic of this modification lies.

What happens if you release the golden fish?

If you decide to give the fish freedom and release it into a sufficiently large body of water (a simple puddle won't work), you'll get a pleasant surprise. For your kind deed, you'll receive a luck effect that lasts quite a long time - the exact duration is configurable.

How does luck work?

The luck effect from golden fish stacks. The more fish you release, the higher your luck level will be, up to the maximum level which is also configurable.

But what does this luck actually provide in practice?

For hunters and warriors

Each level of luck (up to level 4) gives a 25% chance to get +1 to looting level when killing mobs. This ability works even if your weapon doesn't have the looting enchantment! At luck levels 5 through 8, the chance to get +2 to looting increases to 25%. This feature can be disabled in the settings.

For miners and treasure hunters

Each level of luck increases the probability of doubling any precious gems that drop from blocks. This works with both vanilla and modded gems. It's especially effective when combined with the fortune enchantment - after all, the more resources you get initially, the more you can potentially double! This feature can also be disabled if needed.

The modification is compatible with other mods that add their own fishing rods, including support for rods from Aquaculture.
