GregTech Food Option (GTFO)
Important note: The latest version of this mod requires a very recent version of GregTech CE: Unofficial, which in turn requires CodeChickenLib. Also needed are MixinBootstrap or MixinBooter.
GTFO is an addon for GTCEu that offers players an engaging but very costly way of preparing food. This mod introduces complex chains of realistic recipes, turning the ordinary process of eating into a genuine technical challenge.
If you're already tired of the word "realistic" in mod descriptions, let me give you a specific example. Let's say you want to make popcorn.
Let's start with the fact that you'll need to assemble popcorn into a paper bag. Then this popcorn must be cooked in an electric blast furnace along with corn kernels and a special popcorn flavoring.
Creating the flavoring requires several components: salt, vegetable oil, β-carotene for color, as well as diacetyl, acetoin, and 2-acetylpyridine to give that buttery taste. All these substances are actually used in popcorn production in real life.
But how to get, for example, 2-acetylpyridine? For this, you need to combine the Grignard reagent i-PrMgCl with 2-bromopyridine, tetrahydrofuran, and acetyl chloride in a ZPM-level chemical plant! And this is also a real chemical reaction.
In addition to the main chains, the mod includes recipes from other popular mods:
- Coffee from ActuallyAdditions
- S'more S'mingots from NuclearCraft (and something else 👀)
In development plans:
- Domino's Pizza from NuclearCraft
- Enderios from EnderIO
All these settings can be modified to your liking. Although, honestly, who would refuse the opportunity to try the Heart of the S'mogus? 😄
The mod also adds several new multiblock structures, such as the Electric Baking Oven. Don't forget about the numerous single-block machines: slicing machine, cuisine assembler, and even a microwave oven! (Yes, you can still put iron ingots in it if you really want to)
For those who want to automate the process of mob destruction and sorting, the mod provides two redstone-powered machines specializing in working with creatures.
If you're playing with the AppleCore mod, then as you progress through GregTech (by default), regular food from the vanilla game will gradually lose its nutritional value and saturation, motivating you to move to a new level of culinary delights.
Textures for the mod were created by @mothmoss and @max is the spy in the GTCEu Discord, some of them taken from GregTech 5u and 6.
Happy automating your eating!
