Hah! Ueuh~ - Return by Death
"Imagine exploring caves in hardcore mode, suddenly hearing the sound of a drawn bowstring, and before you can react... A hit. \"Hah! Ueuh~\" You wake up in the past, as if time has rewound!" — Noii
Mod Demonstration
Main Features
This modification adds the "Return by Death" ability, known from the character Natsuki Subaru in the Re:Zero anime. This ability is automatically granted to all players from the start of the game.
During gameplay, the game periodically creates "checkpoints". If a character dies, the entire game world reverts to the state at the time of the last checkpoint. Health, hunger, and inventory are fully restored.
The positions of all mobs are also rolled back, killed creatures are revived, broken and placed blocks are restored, and the time of day returns to the moment the checkpoint was created.
By default, checkpoints are created every 30 seconds, as well as when using a bed to sleep and when obtaining achievements.
Settings and Commands
The mod offers various configurable game rules and commands for flexible customization:
/rezero checkpoint — manually create a checkpoint /rezero returnbydeath (player) (true/false) — enable/disable Return by Death for a specific player (if the allReturnByDeath rule is disabled) /rezero revive (player) — revive a player in hardcore mode /halfheart — set health to half a heart for quick death testing
/gamerule randomCheckpoints — enable/disable automatic time-based checkpoints /gamerule achievementCheckpoints — enable/disable checkpoints when obtaining achievements /gamerule sleepCheckpoints — enable/disable checkpoints when sleeping /gamerule notifyCheckpoints — notify when checkpoints are created /gamerule checkpointTime — change the interval between automatic checkpoints /gamerule allReturnByDeath — enable/disable Return by Death for all players /gamerule checkpointRandomness — add randomness to checkpoint intervals (+/-) /gamerule checkpointChance — change the probability of creating a checkpoint (1-100)
Note: The mod contains several vulnerabilities that could be exploited for unfair advantages. Recommended for use only with trusted players. Currently, no further development is planned, but this may change with sufficient community interest.
