Haunted Harvest
Haunted Harvest is a thematic mod that adds seasonality to your Minecraft world while maintaining the vanilla game style.
🎃 Halloween Traditions in the Village
When night falls, young villagers put on masks and go from house to house collecting sweets. They have 8 different masks available: creeper, pumpkin, zombie, illager, piglin, skeleton, enderman, and paper bag.
When a child villager approaches an adult, several scenarios can unfold:
- The adult gives a random candy (including sweets from other mods like Supplementaries), after which the child moves to the next villager
- If the adult has no candy, they might give the child coal
- The child's scary costume might frighten the adult villager
- If the child doesn't receive candy, they take out eggs... The subsequent events are easy to predict
🧙 Encounters with Witches
If during their nighttime walk a child villager meets a witch, they will try to ask her for sweets. In this case, three outcomes are possible:
- The witch scares the children
- The witch gives the child a rotten apple
- In rare cases, the witch might gift a special Grim Apple
🍭 Nutrition and Sweets
During the day, in playtime (from 3000 game ticks), children start eating the collected candies. This slightly reduces their age and restores health, allowing them to participate in Halloween activities longer.
Rotten Apples — new food similar to rotten flesh. They rarely drop from oak and dark oak leaves. They can be used to create a Grim Apple by mixing with other unpleasant ingredients.
Grim Apples — the evil version of rotten apples, opposite to golden apples. When consumed, they apply various negative effects. If a child eats such an apple, they begin transforming into a witch!
🌽 New Agricultural Crops
Corn — a rare three-block tall crop that can be found on abandoned farms — new structures added by the mod. Corn can be used to create various items: popcorn, candy corn, or placed in a paper bag next to a campfire for cooking. Full integration with Farmer's Delight mod.
Splattered Eggs can be placed by throwing eggs at any block.
🏘️ Seasonal Village Decoration
During the Halloween season (from October 20 to November 10), adult villagers begin placing pumpkins around the village. They do this only in their free time and on suitable surfaces — grass or sand above y=64 level.
Child villagers can take shears and carve any pumpkin they see. At night, they try to light up the last carved pumpkin. After the season ends, adult villagers remove all placed pumpkins.
🎃 Pumpkin Carving System
To carve a pumpkin, simply use shears on the top of a regular pumpkin. Then interact with it through the interface or use a sword/knife for in-world carving.
When the design is ready, you can wax the pumpkin to prevent further changes, or create a Jack-o'-Lantern by crafting it with a torch. Standard carved pumpkins are available through side carving.
There are recipes for copying designs from one pumpkin to another. Like regular pumpkins, they can be worn on the head or given to snow golems.
The mod includes a custom carving system with predefined patterns that appear in abandoned houses and are created by child villagers.
⚙️ Settings and Compatibility
- Child villagers are no longer targeted by hostile mobs, allowing them to walk safely at night
- The mod is fully customizable through configuration files: it can be activated year-round or only during specific periods
- By default, trick-or-treating is always active, and pumpkin placement is only from October 1 to November 10
- The mod is designed for use in modpacks since it can be completely disabled during off-season for maximum compatibility
- Integration with Farmer's Delight adds a new dish — succotash made from corn, and also allows abandoned farms to sometimes generate with tomato fields
- Compatibility with Serene Seasons allows activating the mod only during certain seasons
- Compatibility with Autumnity
- Pumpkin placement is tied to the MobGriefing setting. With MobGriefing disabled, the mod will be completely deactivated
