Hominid

Hominid - noun - A primate of a family that includes humans.

Hominid is a compact modification that brings back the long-vanished humans into the Minecraft world. This mod reimagines familiar skeletons and zombies, complementing them with completely new types of creatures.

These unique beings introduce fresh elements to the combat system and make certain biomes significantly more dangerous, as standard mobs are replaced with variations that perfectly fit their specific habitats. Each type of mob in Hominid differs in rarity and unique behavior, ensuring diverse threats and memorable encounters.

🔥 New Creatures

mellified

Mellified - peaceful

Adjective - Preserved or saturated in honey, often referring to ancient practices of embalming or medicinal use.

Mellified beings have been covered in honey for so long that they've preserved their structure and appear virtually untouched by time. Upon taking damage, honey splatters from their skin, applying the new "Honeyed" effect to all nearby enemies. This effect restores health while simultaneously blocking all negative status effects. They may follow players but never attack first. Spawns in the following biomes:

  • Meadows
  • Cherry Groves
  • Flower Forests
  • Birch Forests

Incendiary

Incendiary - hostile

Adjective - Designed to cause fires.

Incendiary represents a dangerous variety of zombie that carries around a gasoline canister. As soon as it spots a player, it instantly ignites and starts rapidly advancing, dealing powerful blows that set targets on fire. Inhabits the following biomes:

  • Taiga
  • Snowy Taiga
  • Ancient Spruce Forests
  • Ancient Pine Forests
  • Windswept Hills
  • Groves

Famished

Famished - hostile

Adjective - Experiencing extreme hunger.

Famished creatures are emaciated beings that appear in lifeless areas where there's practically no food. They instantly devour any animal they spot, including horses, first turning them into zombie horses and then skeleton horses. Upon seeing an animal or player holding meat, they begin a relentless pursuit until their prey is consumed. Found in:

  • Dripstone Caves
  • Stony Peaks
  • Jagged Peaks
  • Frozen Peaks
  • Snowy Slopes
  • Deserts
  • Badlands

Juggernaut

Juggernaut - hostile

Noun - An unstoppable and overwhelming force.

Juggernaut is inspired by one of the designs from Minecraft Dungeons but reinterpreted as a zombie. Their sturdy armor deflects projectiles, while powerful gauntlets deal massive damage and knockback effects. Use your speed advantage to avoid being cornered! Appears rarely, replacing standard zombies in all biomes.

Fossilized

Fossilized - hostile

Adjective - Preserved in a hardened form over time, typically through mineralization, as a remnant of a past organism.

Fossilized beings are mineralized imprints of skeletons. They've adopted their prototypes' mannerisms and throw stone slabs like frisbees at players, dealing tremendous damage. When brushed, they yield the special "Remains" armor trim pattern, which gives armor a skeletal imprint. Spawns in biomes:

  • Deserts
  • Swamps
  • Mangrove Swamps
  • Dripstone Caves
  • Lush Caves
  • Badlands
  • Eroded Badlands
  • Wooded Badlands

Vampire

Vampire - neutral

Noun - A corpse that rises nightly from its grave to drink the blood of the living.

Vampires are zombies who couldn't accept their green skin tone after zombification. They represent an unusual threat that's best avoided when possible. Players become aware of a vampire's presence through the new "Paranoia" effect automatically applied within their range. Though extremely dangerous, they don't attack players immediately, only becoming hostile toward creatures or players who've taken damage (this can be exploited by directing vampires against other mobs). Even when neutral, vampires stalk players from a distance, patiently waiting for them to get injured. Due to missing skin, vampires are incredibly vulnerable to sunlight and perish instantly upon contact with it. Found in:

  • Dark Forests

🎒 Items

  • Gasoline Canister - Obtained from killing incendiary zombies. Can be used as reusable fuel with 3 charges, each smelting 32 items.
  • Charred - A music disc created by Quizzly, obtained when making an incendiary zombie ignite a creeper.
  • "Remains" Armor Trim - Found while brushing fossilized skeletons, gives armor skeletal imprints.
  • Dried Flesh - A safer and more reliable alternative to rotten flesh, obtained from husks.

✨ Special Effects

Honeyed - Activated by drinking honey or when applied by mellified beings to enemies. Restores health and blocks all negative effects while active.

Paranoia - A dangerous indicator signaling vampire presence. The effect produces various sounds and doesn't cease until the vampire leaves the area or is destroyed.

🏆 Achievements

  • How Hungry...? - "Attack and kill a famished creature"
  • Charred Creeper - "Make an incendiary zombie ignite a creeper for a special reward"
  • Incredible Gasoline - "Obtain a gasoline canister that can be used as reusable fuel"
