Improved Damage Framework

Improved Damage Framework is my interpretation of a "combat system update" for Minecraft. This mod fundamentally improves equipment and combat in the game while preserving its original style. It fully implements characteristics typical of classic JRPGs and completely reworks the damage and health system.

Key Features

  • Completely new damage system including elements, critical chances, lifesteal, weight system, and damage class modifiers
  • Display of mob health bars and damage indicators
  • Full integration with vanilla attributes to ensure compatibility with mods that don't semantically conflict
  • Many standard systems reworked to better fit the new damage system
  • Created with modpack integration and compatibility with other mods in mind
  • Ready-built integrations with Legendary Tooltips, Tetra, and Better Combat

Frequently Asked Questions

Compatibility with Apotheosis Adventure Module

Theoretically they should work together, but there are some conflicting concepts. For example, both mods implement fire damage statistics, so equipment might display two different fire damage attributes.

What does "semantically conflicting" mean?

This means the game will launch and run without crashes or glitches. However, this doesn't guarantee seamless integration of all mods. In IDF's elemental damage system, standard Attack Damage, Armor Toughness, and Armor are reworked into Physical Damage, Weight, and Physical Defence respectively.

Ease of Learning

Players who don't want to learn the new system can still be effective by following the "bigger number is better" principle. Complex attributes are color-coded in the interface: green - good, red - bad, white - default value.

Configuring Mobs and Items

IDF comes with preset configurations for all standard mobs and equipment items. For mods without built-in integration, manual configuration will be required.

Known Incompatibilities

Do not use IDF with Maxhealthfix, Responsive Shields, or Better Hurt Timers. The changes made by these mods are already included in IDF and may cause game crashes.
