Improved Mobs - Enhanced Mobs for Minecraft

Want to add some spice to your Minecraft adventure and make the world more dangerous? This mod introduces numerous changes to mob behavior, significantly increasing the game's difficulty.

Main Features

The mod features a progressive difficulty system - with each game day (by default), the difficulty level increases by 1. Many functions scale based on this value.

All hostile mobs become stronger as difficulty increases: their health, damage, speed, and knockback resistance improve.

Hostile mobs can now spawn with armor, with weaker armor being more common. Armor from other mods is supported and can be enchanted.

Smart Mob Behavior

Mobs have learned to break specific blocks that obstruct their path. The pathfinding system considers these blocks - if the path is blocked but the blocks can be broken, mobs will still find their way to the target.

Mobs actively use ladders for climbing, and the pathfinding algorithm also takes this possibility into account.

If a mob doesn't have an active target, it will search for nearby containers to steal items. Protect your chests! However, mobs won't loot containers that haven't been opened by a player (so dungeon loot remains safe).

Special Abilities

When mobs are in water and pursuing a target, they can summon a guardian to ride it. This guardian doesn't attack on its own, has low health, and despawns when the mob dismounts.

Mobs can summon a parrot to ride if they consider the target unreachable by normal means.

Now not only zombies hunt villagers. Poor villagers...

Item Usage

Mobs have learned to use various items like players:

  • Ender Pearls: if the target is too far, the mob throws a pearl
  • Flint and Steel: sets the target on fire
  • TNT: throws TNT at the target. The TNT only damages the target and doesn't destroy blocks
  • Snowballs: throws snowballs at the target
  • Lava Bucket: places lava around the target. The lava isn't a source block, so it disappears
  • Bows: like regular skeletons
  • Splash Potions: mobs now use splash potions of harming
  • Enchanted Books: holding any enchanted books grants mobs special powers. They give positive potion effects to nearby mobs. If there are no other mobs near the target, they summon evoker fangs, otherwise they shoot special shulker bullets that don't harm anyone except the target

Player Assistance

To help against enhanced mobs, your pets no longer take damage from your attacks unless you're sneaking. Finally, no more accidentally killing your dogs while fighting monsters. You can also give armor to your pets by sneaking and right-clicking on them.

The mod is optional for the client. If installed on the client, it displays the current difficulty value.

Additional Features

Operators have access to commands, all under the base command /improvedmobs.

Using configuration, you can fine-tune all values and enable/disable features.

The mod is compatible with the difficulty system from Scaling Health. If Scaling Health is installed, its system will be used instead.
