The Vanilla Gameplay Issue
After the 1.20 update, Minecraft developers completely overhauled the netherite equipment acquisition system. In the original version, it was enough to create 4 netherite scrap pieces, 4 gold ingots, and use a smithing table. Version 1.20 added smithing templates and reworked the table mechanics, but this approach still seems overly simplified and illogical. The smelting process looks particularly strange - how can an item that can survive in lava not withstand a few seconds in a regular coal-powered furnace? This contradicts the very essence of netherite.
Soul Charging
A new mechanic available for all types of furnaces. To soul charge a furnace, you need to create a special Soul Charge. The crafting recipe is shown below:
After placing the Soul Charge in the fuel slot, the furnace begins to work twice as fast as normal. This mechanic works for both blast furnaces and smokers.
Soul Blasting
A special type of recipe that only works in a blast furnace with an active Soul Charge in the fuel slot. The system is fully customizable through datapacks.
Netherite Scrap Processing
The mod's main function. Place the Soul Charge in the blast furnace's fuel slot, then move the ancient debris (clear the slot with a regular click) to the ingredient slot to begin the smelting process. Yes, in-game netherite is resistant to soul fire - just treat this as a gameplay convention.
