Inventory Pets
Tired of weak pets that constantly die and don't obey? Want to add amazing abilities and fun to your game world? Looking for cute (and often deadly) friends who will stay with you through thick and thin?
What are Inventory Pets?
Inventory Pets are living animated creatures that reside right in your inventory and grant you amazing effects, item drops, buffs, useful functions, protection, and weapons in exchange for care and feeding. Some pets, such as the Purple Cow, are particularly beautiful. There are 69 unique pets available with incredible skills and spectacular tricks.
How do pets work?
Each pet has unique and powerful abilities that activate when it's on the hotbar. Effects stop if the pet is removed from the hotbar or not fed. Bad owner!
How to get a pet?
There are three ways to obtain pets:
-
Crafting: All pets are created from regular Minecraft materials. More rare and powerful pets require more valuable resources.
-
Finding in dungeons: Pets can be found in six types of dungeons: Sea Caves, Sky Dungeons, Treetops, and Underground Dungeons in the Overworld; Nether Dungeons in lava lakes of the Nether; Space Dungeons in the End.
-
Using the Petrifier: A special rare wand that can turn many world objects into pets when you have a Diamond or Nether Star in your inventory.
Important: versions for 1.18.2, 1.19.2 and 1.20.1 require Curios API installation.

Pet naming
Simply press 'N' while holding any pet, and you can give it a name. No experience required!

Feed bag
Store all pet food in one bag that can be placed ANYWHERE in your (regular) inventory. Your pets will find the food themselves and eat directly from it.

Recipe structure
Here's an example recipe for the Creeper: Emerald Nuggets on the edges, his favorite food at the top center (Gunpowder), Diamond in the center, and Gold Ingot at the bottom.

Most pets follow this recipe structure. Materials for each pet (except Legendary ones) are specified in their descriptions.

- O = Outer layer
- F = Food
- D = Diamond (usually)
- G = Gold Ingot

Dungeon facts
-
Sky Dungeons are found in the Overworld. They are guarded by Blazes that appear only when approaching the chest. This is the only place where you can get the Cloud pet.
-
Sea Caves are found in oceans and guarded by cave spiders that can breathe underwater. This is the only place where you can find the Pufferfish pet.
-
Underground Dungeons are guarded by fast zombies. This is the only place to find the Slime pet. Tip: mining a cloud block with Silk Touch will give you an X-ray block for easier underground searching.
-
Treetops are found in regular forests, birch forests, and jungles. Although they have no guardians, TNT sometimes appears. This is the only place where you can find the Sun pet.
-
Nether Dungeons are found in lava lakes of the Nether and guarded by Wither Skeletons.
-
Space Dungeons are found in the End and are the only place where you can find the Black Hole pet. They are guarded by invisible enemies. You'll need a Cloud pet or another method of flight to find them.
