ItemSwap

The ItemSwap mod offers a convenient way to exchange items between inventory and hotbar slots. Unlike the standard method of picking up an item, moving it to another slot, and then placing the previous item, this approach significantly reduces the chance of errors.

How to Use

To create a link between slots, open the inventory screen, hold the configuration key (default L), and while hovering over one slot, drag the cursor to another slot, then release the key. Note: a link can only be established between inventory/armor slots and a hotbar slot, as the exchange mechanism involves the hotbar.

Once a link is created, you can instantly move items between the two slots using Shift+click, bypassing the default behavior of sending the item to the first available slot.

Starting from version 2.1.0, you can create chains of links. Clicking on any slot in the chain activates the next exchange in the cycle, which progresses from the first to the last and back again. For example, a chain of 5 exchanges would work as 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 (returning to the start). If the cycle gets disrupted, use Ctrl+click to reset it and manually return items to their starting positions.

Chains are particularly useful for quickly swapping two armor items: link a slot to the hotbar, then link that hotbar slot to another slot—the exchange takes just three clicks. To make it easier, alternate between left and right clicks (e.g., Shift + (left-right-left)). While chains can be longer, practical use rarely requires more than three exchanges.

To delete chains, use the delete key (default Del).
