LITHIC - Returning to the Roots of Survival in Minecraft
Since the release of beta version 1.8, Minecraft has gradually moved away from the challenging survival aspects that made the game truly testing in early versions. The LITHIC mod aims to return players to the roots of the early beta period, creating a more meaningful and demanding progression system.
Development Eras
The entire gameplay is divided into clearly defined historical periods, each requiring mastery of new technologies and survival methods.
Stone Age
At the initial stage, the player is limited to basic capabilities - creating and storing items is only possible in the inventory. Torches now require jute and either fat or honeycombs to craft, and can only be lit on a campfire. Animals drop hides that must be processed with bark and water from a bucket or bottle.
Copper and Bronze Age
As in real history, there is a transitional copper period between the stone and bronze ages. Copper and tin now generate in the world, with the richest veins found at greater depths.
Iron Age
Lime is now obtained from pointed dripstone and is required as flux during forging. Iron tools are created exclusively on a smithing table.
Main Changes
No block can be broken without the appropriate tool - the game operates in adventure mode. Custom shaders make darkness absolutely black. Natural health regeneration is disabled - recovery only occurs when sleeping in a wool bed. Potions become truly useful, and combat presents real danger.
Only spiders spawn among hostile mobs on the surface. Hoglins now inhabit most forests, creating constant threat. Metal tools are created from a stick and the corresponding tool head. Saws and scythes have been added that can be crafted. Planks are no longer created on a workbench - they must be sawn from stripped logs. Using a goat horn provides a 10-second strength boost.
