Logical Anvil

A modification that completely reworks the anvil mechanics, making it more fair and understandable for players.

Now the order of combining enchantments no longer matters, and repair cost applies only to actual durability restoration of items, not to renaming or enchantment application.

Main Changes

Renaming an item always adds only 1 experience point to the operation cost.

Enchantments increase cost only when transferring from a book to an item. Combining books with each other and combining items is completely free in terms of enchantment cost.

Cost Calculation System

Cost is calculated using the formula rarity * 2 ^ (book level - 1). For example, combining 4 Soul Speed I books will cost the same as one Soul Speed III book.

Repair Mechanics

Each tool can be fully repaired 4 times, after which it becomes "too expensive". For example, an iron sword has 250 durability, so 1000 durability units can be restored before it becomes too expensive for repair. This is now the only way an item can become too expensive.

Also, material-based repair is now proportional to the cost of that equipment. For example, a diamond pickaxe requires 3 diamonds for full repair, and a leather chestplate requires 8 leather for complete restoration.

Planned: a netherite ingot fully repairs any netherite item Mod is no longer supported


This mod was created with upcoming villager trade balance changes in mind.

Compatibility Due to the mod's implementation method, it is likely incompatible with other mods that modify the anvil interface or mechanics. Compatibility issues with other mods will probably not be fixed.
