Lunar Nether
This mod fundamentally transforms the Nether by replacing the standard bedrock ceiling with a completely new rocky layer hiding an amazing lunar landscape. Unlike technical mods, Lunar Nether adds the Moon as a full-fledged gameplay space.
Main Features
Explore a completely new environment with the unique Outrocks biome, featuring distinctive terrain and atmosphere. The mod includes several new world-generated structures and introduces a new stone type with polished and carved variants for construction.
Mine rare ilmenite ore, which can be smelted into iron or converted into titanium using explosive technologies. Titanium serves as a valuable building material, similar to copper but with its own unique properties.
Gameplay Features
The Nether portal functions in the usual way, but if built high enough in the overworld, it provides direct access to the lunar surface. The Moon features a realistic day/night cycle that progresses 8 times slower than in the main world.
Development Plans
Future updates plan integration with Tinkers Construct mod, as well as possible addition of:
- Lunar phase clocks made from titanium
- Improved craters
- Volcanoes above basalt deltas
- Meteor showers and space weather
- Suspicious moondust formed from meteor impacts
Important Features
Due to changes in world generation, mob farms cannot be built on the Nether roof using standard methods - natural creature spawning is disabled in the new biome. The absence of bedrock at the top also makes some exploits related to this feature impossible.
Portals may appear in unexpected locations but continue to follow standard game rules. Using the mod in existing worlds may lead to unusual results but shouldn't completely break gameplay.
