Lunatic Hardcore
Introduction
The Lunatic Hardcore modification dramatically increases the difficulty of survival in hardcore mode without adding new creatures or items. This is achieved by reworking core game mechanics, making the game more demanding of player skills.
Key changes include: mining restrictions, reworked fortune system, weakened health regeneration, disabled natural regeneration in new hardcore worlds, frequent thunderstorms and rain, modified food saturation values, enhanced mobs, targeted lightning strikes, and additional exhaustion penalties. When hunger is low, players receive negative status effects. All settings can be customized to personal preferences.
Mining System
Blocks can no longer be mined without the appropriate tool. The system is compatible with modded tools such as those from Tinker's Construct. Mining settings are fully configurable.
Reworked Fortune
The Fortune enchantment works unpredictably - even at high levels it may perform as a level 1-2 enchantment. This makes valuable resource gathering less predictable.
Modified Health Regeneration
Natural regeneration is significantly weakened. The Wither effect slows health recovery, and at critically low hunger levels (1 or 0 units), healing is completely disabled. Effective healing now requires the vanilla Regeneration status effect.
Disabled Natural Regeneration
In new hardcore worlds, natural health regeneration is disabled by default. For older worlds, this setting must be changed manually through game rules.
Frequent Weather Events
Rain and thunderstorms occur much more frequently. Thunderstorms are particularly dangerous - besides usual threats, lightning can now purposefully strike players under open sky.
Nutrition Changes
Saturation values from all food are halved. This applies to both vanilla and modded food items.
Additional Exhaustion
Players constantly lose saturation even without active actions. The hunger system is also enhanced, requiring more careful resource planning.
Hunger Penalties
Low hunger levels cause negative status effects that intensify as the saturation bar decreases. This creates additional motivation to monitor nutrition.
Targeted Lightning Strikes
During thunderstorms, players under open sky have a 1% chance per second to be struck by lightning. This adds an extra element of danger during bad weather.
Enhanced Mobs
All mobs deal 50% more damage and receive 35% less damage from players. This makes every enemy encounter more dangerous and tactically challenging.
Future Plans
Additional challenges for swimming, lava, Nether, End, and other game aspects are in development. Community suggestions are considered if they fit the mod's theme.
