MagicBooks2

MagicBooks2 represents a complete overhaul and development of the original MagicBooks mod. This project is in active development, and the current release allows players to familiarize themselves with the core features before all planned capabilities are completed.

Items

• Elemental Books - Book of Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Arcane: when used, provide skill points for the corresponding element
• Magic Book - opens the spells interface where spells can be unlocked using accumulated skill points
• Spell Bag - specialized container for storing spells
• Shards - mined from corresponding ores and used in crafting recipes, as well as for creating mana
• Wands - activate unlocked spells when the corresponding spell scroll is in the inventory slot to the left of the wand (wand and spell elements must match)
• Elemental Pickaxes - acquire special abilities when the player is saturated with corresponding mana:
  • Pickaxe of Air: attracts items to the player
  • Pickaxe of Earth: mines resources over a large area
  • Pickaxe of Fire: automatically smelts ores
  • Pickaxe of Water: replaces mined obsidian with water
• Axes - currently have increased durability and work speed, will receive unique abilities in the future
• Crystal Linker - used to connect crystals of the same element to each other

Blocks

• Greater Crystals - generate mana when the corresponding shard is placed in the interface
• Crystals - transfer mana, automatically connecting to the nearest greater crystal
• Pedestals - used in rituals for creating blocks and items
• Shard Blocks - used in crafting and for compact storage
• Mana Pad - saturates the player with mana when standing on it, automatically consuming mana from the nearest crystal
• Ores - source of shards of various elements

Spells

Air:

• Lightning - strikes lightning at the block or creature in sight
• Invisibility - makes the player invisible for a time

Earth:

• Growth - accelerates the development of agricultural crops
• Wall - creates a temporary earth barrier in front of the player

Fire:

• Fireblast - sets all mobs in the surrounding area on fire

Water:

• Bubble - provides complete invulnerability for several seconds

Runes

All runes automatically consume mana from the nearest crystal of the corresponding element:

• Rune of Drowning - deals drowning damage and immobilizes mobs
• Rune of Lumber - cuts down surrounding trees using earth mana, requires an adjacent container for item storage

Crafting Rituals

The Air Pedestal is oriented east, the distance between all crystals and pedestals is 2 blocks. All ritual crafting recipes are available in JEI. The top slot corresponds to the Air Pedestal, other slots are positioned according to their locations in the ritual. The number above each slot indicates the required amount of mana of the corresponding element in the crystal for successful ritual completion.

Important: the placement of greater crystals doesn't matter, only the correct arrangement of regular crystals and pedestals is critical.
