Magnetism

Solving the Loot Collection Problem
Annoyed when after long resource gathering or victory over enemies, valuable items scatter across the ground? This has happened to every Minecraft player. Part of the loot can roll into lava, get lost in tall grass, or just require extra time to collect.
Magnetism offers an elegant solution to this problem. This datapack adds a magnet that automatically pulls dropped items from the nearby area directly to the player. Now don't waste time running after resources - they will find their way into your inventory themselves.
Created completely using vanilla Minecraft commands, Magnetism feels like an integral part of the game: smooth operation, balanced settings, and intuitive control. No mods, lags, or complex mechanics - just reliable magnetic force, implemented correctly.

How the Magnetic System Works
After activation, the magnet constantly scans the area around the player for dropped items within a configurable radius. Each item gently moves toward you step by step, without sudden teleportation. The pulling effect looks natural and is pleasant to watch.
By default, the range is 10 blocks, but you can easily change this value to suit your playstyle.
Server Compatibility
Magnetism fully operates through Minecraft's datapack system, using functions, tags, and scoreboard logic. The system is optimized for efficient operation in both single-player worlds and multiplayer servers, including large projects.
Each player can independently activate their own magnet without affecting other participants - this makes the datapack an ideal choice for cooperative worlds and survival SMPs.
Visual and Sound Effects
For deeper immersion, Magnetism includes subtle particle effects and sound effects that activate when item attraction begins. You'll see a shimmering trail behind moving items, creating a feeling of "magic gravity" - the effect looks impressive but doesn't distract from gameplay.
Craftin Recipe
For fans of classic survival, Magnetism supports an optional creation recipe.
The magnet is crafted from materials logically suitable for such a function:

After crafting, you'll receive a Magnet - a small glowing item that can be held in hand to toggle the active state of the magnetic effect.
Impact on Gameplay
Once you try Magnetism, it's difficult to return to the old way of collecting resources.
Specific Usage Examples
- Mining ore: No more running in circles collecting scattered ore - it comes to you by itself
- Mob farming: Standing near dropped items, watch as experience and loot automatically fly into your inventory
- Tree chopping: Magnetism catches falling logs and saplings, saving time on cleanup
- Cave exploration: Protects your loot from falling into lava lakes and chasms
- Building: Indispensable for builders constantly picking up and dropping materials during work
The system works balanced - you still need to be within range and have free inventory space, but the convenience is incredible. Imagine a real vacuum cleaner for your loot.
Performance and Optimization
The datapack has been thoroughly performance-tested to remain lightweight even in worlds with many entities. Item detection uses efficient selectors and avoids unnecessary cycles. The system also scales based on the number of active magnet users - if no one is using the magnet, the system is practically idle.
This allows safe use of Magnetism on large servers without risk of lag or performance drops.
Installation and Configuration
After installing the datapack, execute the command: \code /reload
