Map Atlases [Forge] - Smart Maps for Your Adventure

Transform ordinary Minecraft maps into a powerful navigation system with this convenient mod that seamlessly integrates with the vanilla game's aesthetic.

Creating and Managing Atlas

An Atlas is crafted by combining a filled map, a book, and a sticky material (slimeball or honey bottle). The source map determines the scale of the entire atlas. Expand your map collection by adding filled or empty maps through crafting table or cartography table. Remove individual maps using shears on crafting table or more precise control via cartography table.

Real-time Minimap

The Atlas displays a minimap in the top-left corner of the screen when active on your hotbar or off-hand. New maps are automatically generated when entering unexplored areas (in survival mode). Lock atlas creation by Shift + Right-clicking the atlas.

The minimap supports displaying X, Y, Z coordinates, cardinal directions, and current biome. Choose between player-following rotating mode or standard grid-based vanilla map system.

World Map

Access the full world map by right-clicking the atlas or pressing M key. You can also place atlas on lectern for map access. The map supports:

• Bookmarks for each dimension and map slice
• Tabs with markers and decorations
• Coordinate display under mouse cursor
• Mouse wheel zooming (hold Shift for faster zoom)
• Drag navigation

Compatibility with Other Mods

Moonlight Lib

Adds waypoint system visible only to you. Create named waypoints, change their colors, set navigation targets. Enable entity radar to display mobs on minimap.

Supplementaries

Adds support for slice maps to explore Nether and caves. Automatic switching between map layers based on Y-level. Use antique ink to create antique atlas.

Curios

Place atlas in Curios hands slot for permanent access.

Twilight Forest

Support for magic and maze maps from Twilight Forest mod.

Additional Features

Atlases work across dimensions, creating new maps when transitioning. Add markers by using atlas on map decoration blocks or pressing B key. Creative mode allows teleportation through world map.

Settings and Configuration

The mod offers extensive settings through configuration files or menu mods. Change map addition costs, interface appearance, and more.
