MeteorCraft
Tired of needing to explore new territories for ore mining? Want an alternative, albeit rare, source of valuable resources? MeteorCraft offers a unique solution - periodic meteorite falls filled with various ores!
How It Works
Meteorites periodically fall from the sky, leaving behind craters with valuable resources. You don't need to load new chunks - meteorites bring ore right to you! No retrogen required.
Meteorite Types
The system includes three types of meteorites with different contents:
- Stone meteorites (71%) - contain iron, redstone, certus quartz, and tin
- Nether meteorites (19%) - nether quartz and ardite
- End meteorites (10%) - pitchblende and olivine
By default, about 40% of each meteorite consists of ore, the rest is filler blocks. These parameters can be changed in settings.
Additional Resources
Each meteorite also contains a small amount of glowstone and gunpowder, making them even more valuable finds.
Protection and Safety
Meteorites destroy terrain, so various protection methods are provided:
- Global protection
- Biome-based protection
- Height-based protection (Y-level)
If a meteorite enters a protected zone, it safely explodes in midair, scattering about 60% of its blocks.
Fall Frequency
By default, meteorites fall approximately once per hour, but frequency can be configured. High frequency is not recommended for serious gameplay due to ore abundance and severe terrain damage.
Meteor Showers
Rare meteor showers sometimes occur lasting from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. During showers, fall frequency increases dramatically. All meteorites in showers explode in midair.
Special Blocks
The mod adds two block types:
- Meteor Defense Gun (three tiers) - automatically protects an area from meteor impacts. Higher tiers protect larger areas (up to 112×112 blocks)
- Meteor Radar - notifies about meteor spawns and impacts in a large zone
With RotaryCraft installed, these blocks are cheaper to craft but require RotaryCraft power.
