The Skill Tree Mod

Complete Skill Tree

Overview

Minecraft Skill Trees is the first skill development system mod built on the SkillTrees library (required for operation and available separately). This project serves both as a demonstration of the progression system's capabilities and as a tool for developers creating their own skill trees. The main concept of the mod is that to craft certain items, you must first unlock the corresponding skill. Unlocking occurs through accumulating skill points and game experience. To learn the requirements for a specific ability, simply hover your cursor over it. Future versions plan to add new skills. To open the skill menu, press the "K" key.

Getting Started

When starting the game, you receive 5 skill points. Additional points can be earned by completing achievements or using special skill gems. Crafting tables are created in the usual way, but you cannot use them until you unlock the "Crafter" skill. This skill requires 3 skill points and 10 experience levels. Gaining these levels can be challenging since you don't have access to regular tools and weapons - you might need to search for equipment in villages. After this, you'll appreciate crafting tables in a new way. The skill menu opens with the "K" key.

Initial Skill Tree

When you accumulate 10 levels, you'll have a choice of skills to develop. All armor, weapons, and tools are locked - this also applies to most items from other mods. To gain access to them, you need to raise the level of the corresponding skill to the required value. The progression for armor and tools is as follows: leather/wood → gold/stone → iron/gold → diamond/iron → -/diamond. Each subsequent level requires more skill points and experience levels. Future versions will include prestige options for unlocking additional skills.

Not only weapons and tools are locked - furnaces, enchanting tables, brewing stands, doors, beds, and even chests require appropriate skills! You'll need to determine the optimal development path yourself based on your needs. Be careful - spent skill points cannot be refunded!
