Mob Population Control
This server mod significantly improves server stability and reduces the need for manual intervention from administrators.
In the standard version of Minecraft, mobs that pick up items receive a special flag that prevents them from despawning. While this usually works fine, in some situations it leads to uncontrolled mob population growth, causing performance drops, player lag, and even server overload with excessive memory usage. Administrators have to spend a lot of time manually removing these unwanted mobs.
One of the most common problems is traitorous chickens that wander around supplying zombies with eggs, but there are other similar situations.
Mob Population Control prevents the assignment of the permanent existence flag to mobs that pick up unnecessary items from the configuration list. Instead, these mobs will despawn normally when players leave the area.
