Mod Laboratorio: Dive into Minecraft Chemistry World

Mod Laboratorio: Virtual Chemistry Laboratory in Minecraft

The Mod Laboratorio provides an incredibly realistic opportunity to study chemical processes directly in the Minecraft world. This project is specially designed for chemistry enthusiasts wanting to deepen their knowledge through interactive experiments.

Key Features

This modification allows recreating genuine chemical reactions that consider all physical laws and substance properties. Every compound can be obtained either from natural resources or through corresponding chemical transformations.

Starting Resources

To begin work, you'll need basic substances mined from the surrounding world:

Minerals:

  • Sulfur (S)
  • Calcite (CaCO₃)
  • Graphite (C)
  • Halite (NaCl)
  • Hematite (Fe₂O₃)
  • Magnesite (MgCO₃)
  • Magnetite (Fe₃O₄)
  • Pyrite (FeS₂)
  • Sylvite (KCl)

Standard Minecraft resources are also used: coal, diamonds, quartz, and sand.

Liquids: Water is obtained from regular buckets and stored for future use.

Gases and Their Extraction: Nitrogen (N₂), oxygen (O₂), argon (Ar), carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), and hydrogen (H₂) – all are present in the atmosphere but require special equipment for extraction and storage.

Processes and Equipment

Raw Material Processing

After mining minerals, they must be smelted in furnaces to obtain standard 50 ml ingots. Each ingot has its own mass and molar amount of substance depending on the material's chemical properties.

For further processing, create a pulverizing hammer with this recipe:

  I_D_I S_I_I
  I_S_I -> I_A_I

I - iron ingot, A - diamond, S - stick [Pulverizing hammer crafting image could be here]

Laboratory Glassware

For working with liquids, you'll need measuring beakers, while gases require gas cylinders and cryogenic containers. Different volume measuring beakers (100 ml, 250 ml) allow precise substance dosing for reactions.

Specialized Equipment

The mod includes various devices:

  • Steel blocks - foundation for all mechanisms
  • Condensers - for liquefying gases
  • Distillers - separating liquid mixtures
  • Cold distillers - working below 0°C
  • Automatic methane distillers - methane extraction from atmosphere
  • Steel furnaces - for heating and thermal reactions
  • Electrolyzers - conducting electrolytic processes
  • Compressors - creating conditions for ammonia synthesis
  • Filters - separating solid-liquid systems

Steel Production

The steel production process closely resembles reality – you must mix iron with carbon in specific proportion (0.61% by mass). Production stages:

  1. Decomposition of iron-containing ores (pyrite, hematite, magnetite)
  2. Creating iron-carbon alloy
  3. Heating in special steel furnace to obtain pure steel

Conducting Reactions

The chemical transformation system covers a wide range of processes:

Sodium and Potassium Reactions: Electrolysis of salt solutions, acid-base neutralizations forming various compounds.

Calcium Transformations: Thermal decomposition of carbonates, obtaining hydroxides and their further transformations.

Magnesium Processes: Similar to calcium reactions with magnesium chemistry specifics.

Silicon and Its Compounds: Silicon reduction from oxide, silicate and chloride synthesis.

Carbon Cycle: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide transformations, organic compound synthesis.

Nitrogen-Containing Substances: Complex reactions involving nitrogen, nitrogen oxides, ammonia and nitrates.

Sulfur Compounds: Full cycle from sulfur to sulfuric acid and its derivatives.

Iron Ore Processes: Metallic iron reduction from various ores.
