Modern Beta
Return to Minecraft's Roots
This project is a data pack that transports players back to the golden era of Minecraft Beta 1.7.3, recreating the unique atmosphere and mechanics of that game version.
Core Gameplay Changes
The survival system has been completely overhauled to match the beta version. Hunger and experience bars have been removed, along with the offhand slot. Food now restores health directly instead of saturation. The combat system has reverted to pre-1.8 mechanics, making battles more tactical and predictable.
Mobs and Their Behavior
Hostile mobs have received significant changes. Zombies have become much more dangerous - they can carry more items and move at varying speeds. Skeletons, zombies, strays, husks, and drowned now wear helmets and boots more frequently. Creepers have gained randomized fuse timers, making encounters with them unpredictable. Giant zombies with full artificial intelligence have returned to the world.
World and Structures
Villages, outposts, and the End dimension have been removed from the game. Instead, new structures have been added - churches where bells can be found. Compasses and clocks now display player coordinates and the number of days passed. Improved void fog and reduced debug info have also been restored.
Additional Features
Some mobs once again drop old loot, and crafting recipes have been changed or removed to fully match the beta version. All these changes work together to create an authentic classic Minecraft experience.
