M-Tape - Measuring Tape for Minecraft
M-Tape is a practical Fabric mod that transforms your Minecraft into a proper construction site with precise measuring tools. Originally created by GeeItsZee for LiteLoader 1.10.2, the project has been successfully adapted for modern Fabric versions.
Compatibility and Support
The mod is fully compatible with Quilt and Fabric versions from 1.16.x to 1.21.x. Support for older Fabric 1.14/1.15 versions is not planned unless there is significant demand from the community.
Installation
M-Tape requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API to function. The installation process is straightforward:
- Ensure you have Fabric Loader and Fabric API installed for your Minecraft version
- Download the appropriate version of M-Tape from official mod distribution sources
- Navigate to your
.minecraft
folder on your computer - Create a
mods
folder if it doesn't exist, and place the Fabric API and M-Tape files there - Launch the Minecraft version with Fabric Loader - the mod will load automatically
How to Use
M-Tape functions like a regular measuring tape but within the game world. The main control key is Set Origin
(default: I).
Basic functions:
- To activate/deactivate the mod, hold SHIFT and press
Set Origin
- To measure distance, set the starting point by looking at the initial block and pressing
Set Origin
- The mod will automatically display the distance to any block you look at
- A numerical distance value will appear on screen, and a connecting line will be visible in the world between points
Additional Features
Chat sending: The Send Measurement In Chat
key (default: B) allows you to record the current measurement in chat as a static message. This is convenient for recording results, but other players won't see this message.
Block selection: The Select Block
function (default: G) lets you mark important blocks. Selected objects are highlighted in orange and retain their selection even after disabling the mod. To clear all selections, use the SHIFT + Select Block
combination.
Technical Support
