Multimeters

Multimeters is a practical mod that allows players to view details of tile entities without needing to open their graphical interface.

The idea for this mod originated from the impressive appearance of the energy overlay created by Ellpeck for Actually Additions. The principle of using a multimeter is simple: if you have it in your hotbar or offhand, data about the block you're looking at is automatically displayed — check out the images below. Additionally, you can bind a multimeter to a specific block by sneaking and right-clicking it with the multimeter selected. After that, as long as the block is loaded and the multimeter is in your hotbar, the relevant information will be accessible from a distance (which is excellent for monitoring energy or other metrics!).

ATTENTION: THE MOD REQUIRES CJCORE VERSION 0.0.5.1 OR HIGHER

Types of Multimeters

Currently, three types of multimeters are available:

  • Energy Multimeter — crafted from 4 gold ingots and a redstone block. Allows you to see the energy level in any block that stores it. Thanks to the CJCore compatibility system, the device supports various energy types: RF, EU, FE, J, MJ, and T.
  • Inventory Multimeter — crafted from 4 gold ingots and a chest. Shows the contents of any block's inventory. If the inventory is empty, the overlay is not displayed. Also works with sided inventories (hold Shift to make the multimeter ignore the side you're looking at and show data for the entire block — note: this only works for blocks that support null-side).
  • Fluid Multimeter — crafted from 4 gold ingots and a bucket. Displays fluid tanks inside blocks. Supports both single and multiple tanks.

Configuration

Players can customize how multimeters display information:

  • Size and position of overlays for energy and fluid multimeters.
  • Number of items per row for the inventory multimeter before starting a new row.
  • Through the CJCore configuration, you can change the default energy unit, as well as the appearance of energy and fluid info strings.

Known Issues

There is an unresolved issue where multimeter overlays overlap with the Actually Additions overlay.
