Mushroom Madness
Mushroom Madness is a modification that fundamentally enhances mushroom islands in Minecraft, giving them the care and attention they've deserved over all these years.
Fungal Clusters
The new "Mycelium Overgrowth" block (analogous to short grass) can be found in updated biomes. When broken, this block drops fungal clusters that can be placed on ordinary logs. As a result, the logs transform into Sporewood, providing access to a completely new set of wooden blocks. These fungal formations also spread across trees and gradually consume foliage.
Sporewood Forest
Most of the mod's new features appear in the Sporewood Forest — an additional biome that generates within mushroom fields. This approach preserves the unique atmosphere of solitude and peace found in vanilla mushroom islands while giving players access to new resources nearby.
Glowing Mushrooms
The Sporewood Forest grows special glowing mushrooms inspired by the illuminated mushrooms from Minecraft Dungeons. By default, they emit very little light, but when a player steps on them, their glow becomes much brighter. Using wax, you can fix the mushroom in either of the two states, which also allows placing it anywhere.
Glowing Mushroom Blocks
Huge glowing mushrooms consist of special blocks, similar to ordinary giant mushrooms in vanilla gameplay. However, they have a unique feature — they create glowing spores in the surrounding space, reminiscent of the effect from the Spore Blossom. These particles create an amazing atmosphere and can be used for decorative purposes.
Mycologist's Tower
In the Sporewood Forest, you can occasionally discover a mysterious structure — the Mycologist's Tower. This is the home of a special fungal inhabitant containing unique items:
- A smithing template for upgrading bows with mushrooms
- A bottomless bowl of mushroom stew
- A new music disc
The Mycologist
The tower is inhabited by a new hostile mob — the Mycologist, armed with a mushroom bow. His appearance is inspired by mycologists from the game Inscryption.
