Nether Portal Spread (Legacy Fabric)
This mod adds a unique mechanic of spreading blocks from the Nether to the Overworld around portals. The portal slowly transforms surrounding blocks into Nether equivalents within a configurable radius.
Main Features
By default, the spread can be stopped by placing four coal blocks within the portal's radius. Nearby players receive notifications when the spread begins and when it's stopped.
The mod saves all portal locations in the '../world-folder/data/netherportalspread/portals/' folder. A new portal is detected when created or when a player travels from the Nether to the Overworld.
Configuration Options
The mod offers extensive configuration options:
- sendMessageOnPortalCreation (default = true) - sends message about spread beginning
- portalSpreadRadius (default = 15) - block spread radius
- spreadDelayTicks (default = 40) - delay between spreads
- instantConvertAmount (default = 50) - number of instantly converted blocks
- preventSpreadBlockString (default = "minecraft:coal_block") - block that stops the spread
Block Spread Configuration
You can define which blocks transform into what in the "spreadsettings.txt" file in the "./config/netherportalspread/" folder. Format: FROMBLOCK; [TOBLOCK>WEIGHT (+ TOBLOCK>WEIGHT)]
Example configuration:
stone; [netherrack>10 + magma_block>2 + nether_quartz_ore>1],
grass_block; [netherrack>1],
dirt; [netherrack>1],
sand; [soul_sand>1],
gravel; [soul_sand>1],
stone_bricks; [nether_bricks>2 + red_nether_bricks>1],
sea_lantern; [glowstone>1],
farmland; [soul_sand>1],
wheat; [nether_wart>1]
For Minecraft 1.16 and above, an extended configuration with new blocks from the Nether update is used.
Compatibility with Other Mods
The mod supports blocks from other mods. For modded blocks, use the format [MODID:Blockname>weight].
The mod requires the Collective (Fabric) library and Fabric API.
This is the version for Legacy Fabric 1.16 and 1.17. For newer versions and Forge, use the main project page.
