NinjaGear
NinjaGear is a thematic modification for Minecraft version 1.9 that adds a complete arsenal of items and blocks in the ninja style. The mod was created with an emphasis on role-playing elements and is the first in a series of small thematic additions.
Mod Content
All items and blocks in the mod come with detailed tooltips that explain their purpose, usage methods, as well as advantages and disadvantages. You can familiarize yourself with them directly in the game or read the description below.
Ninja Armor Set
The full ninja armor set slightly increases movement and attack speed. The main feature of the armor is the ability to hide from mobs and other players when it's dark enough. To become invisible, simply crouch (default - Shift key). When successfully hidden, a corresponding status indicator will appear on the screen. Normally, equipping items reveals the ninja, but most specialized items from this mod can be used while remaining hidden.
Attacking from cover deals critical damage (amount is configurable), but reveals the ninja. After being revealed, it's impossible to hide for a short period - this is also signaled by a special indicator on the screen.
When wearing the chestplate from the ninja armor set, all ninja weapons and tools from the inventory (except equipped ones) are displayed on the character model.
Crafting recipes for each armor piece can be viewed in JEI or in the images below.
Ninja Weapons
The ninja is a master of stealth but is also skilled in combat. Their arsenal includes several preferred weapon types.
Katana
The katana deals more damage and attacks faster than a regular sword but requires the use of both hands. If there's an item in the offhand, attacking with the katana slows down and deals less damage. Equipping the katana reveals the ninja. This weapon is used when stealth is no longer an option.
Sai
The sai is one of the ninja's signature weapons. They are smaller than the katana and can be equipped without revealing the ninja. However, for maximum effectiveness, two sai are needed - one in each hand. Using only one sai reduces damage.
Shuriken
To hit targets at a distance, the ninja uses shuriken. Although the throwing range is less than that of a bow and arrow, shuriken can be thrown very quickly one after another.
Ninja Tools
The ninja also uses special tools for various situations.
Smoke Bomb
When the ninja has nowhere to hide or needs to escape quickly, they can throw a smoke bomb. It creates a smoke cloud that forms a dark spot that persists for some time and then dissipates.
Rope
Rope can be attached to the bottom side of blocks with a solid bottom face. Ropes can also be connected to each other or to certain anchor points. When clicking on a rope with another rope in hand, it extends one block downward. Clicking on a rope segment breaks it and all segments below. Shift+click breaks the entire rope.
Rope Coil
If the ninja needs to climb to a height but there's no suitable path, they can tie several ropes together (Shift+RMB) to create a rope coil. It can be thrown to create a rope up to 10 blocks long (configurable). The coil can also be thrown at an existing rope to extend it. Excess ropes remaining after touching the ground are returned to the inventory.
The coil can be disassembled back into individual ropes using the corresponding crafting recipe.
