Nostalgic Tweaks

Nostalgic Tweaks by Adrenix

Returning to Minecraft's Roots

Nostalgic Tweaks is designed for those who miss the classic versions of Minecraft. Inspired by Exalm's Old Days project, this mod brings back numerous gameplay elements that were lost or changed in the alpha, beta, and early release versions of the game.

Key Features

Among the key changes offered by the mod are the restoration of old lighting systems, classic fog rendering, original sky and void colors, 2D floating items without diffuse lighting, previous mob spawning and combat mechanics, old game screens, and C418 music. Currently, there are over 400 different settings available to create an authentic atmosphere of the past.

Usage Recommendations

For complete immersion in the nostalgic atmosphere, it is recommended to use the Golden Days resource pack by PoeticRainbow or the Programmer Art Continuation Project by mzov. The former offers various texture packs, including an alpha version and perfectly matched options that work wonderfully with Nostalgic Tweaks. To recreate classic world generation, you can install the Moderner Beta mod by BlueStaggo.

Mod Configuration

To open the configuration menu, press the O key (for "Old") in-game or on the title screen. The hotkey can be changed in the standard control settings or in the mod's configuration menu. If Mod Menu is installed for Fabric or when using Forge/NeoForge, access to settings is also available through the "Mods" button.

Each setting in the configuration menu is tagged to help identify different aspects of the changes. Hovering the cursor over a tag displays additional information. In each setting's configuration window, you can favorite it, view its status, change client/server values, save, undo changes, reset, or modernize the parameter.

Search and Filtering

The configuration menu features a search function with intelligent result matching. To refine searches, you can use special tags. All available search tags can be viewed by opening the configuration menu and clicking the "Manage" button in the bottom left corner, then going to the "Help" category.

The filtering system allows you to select setting categories for viewing. When the favorites list is open, search queries will only display selected items.

Configuration Management

Through the management menu, you can create configuration backups, manage setting presets, import and export configuration files, perform server operations, and quickly toggle groups of settings. Each menu section has a unique interface for convenient management.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The following key combinations are available: Ctrl+F - focus on search field, Ctrl+S - save settings, Esc - exit menu, Ctrl/Alt + left/right arrows - switch between category groups. To navigate menu elements, you can use Tab and arrow keys, and to perform actions - space or Enter.

Compatibility

When using the Better Clouds mod, it is recommended to set the "Fog Distance Factor" parameter to 2.00x. If experiencing issues with lighting updates in chunks, disable the "Round Robin Chunk Relighting" setting (section Eye Candy > Lighting Candy > World Lighting > Light Engine).

Optifine may cause compatibility issues due to closed source code. Settings affected by Optifine are marked with appropriate tags in the configuration menu. Sodium and Embeddium mods are officially supported.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this mod be included in my modpack? Yes, provided it is distributed on the official platforms where the mod is available.

Is the mod safe for server use? Yes, the mod automatically disables settings that are not supported on servers without mods.

Will there be support for versions 1.x.x? No backward compatibility with versions 1.x.x is planned for Nostalgic Tweaks. For versions 1.12, 1.16, and 1.17, it is recommended to use the OSECA mod.
