Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the mod created for version 1.12? Isn't that unnecessary work?
Development of this mod began in 2018, and it became the first complete mod I finished. Instead of abandoning the work done, I decided to complete the project for version 1.12, since it's better to release a finished mod than constantly chase the latest game versions.
Why is some content ported from newer versions while some is original?
When I started development, there weren't many quality mods porting content from version 1.13. Initially, the mod was conceived precisely as a feature port, but during development I began improving aspects of 1.13 that seemed underdeveloped to me (such as the trident), and gradually started adding unique content that I wanted to see in an ocean mod.
Will there be a port to versions newer than 1.12?
If I decide to port the mod to later versions, many features will require significant changes. Therefore, it would be more of a sequel — something like Oceanic Expanse 2: Electric Jellyfish! Please don't ask for porting — it's not my job or obligation. I'll only do it if and when I want to.
Will you add feature X?
I have several planning documents that will become publicly available in the future. Regarding adding new features, I'm very selective about what I want to include in the mod. Therefore, many popular requests (such as sharks) will most likely never be implemented.
Recommended Mods
Aqua Acrobatics ports the movement system from versions 1.13+, including swimming, crawling, moving under slabs, as well as various water improvements: new textures, underwater fog changes, and adding bubble columns! Oceanic Expanse has built-in compatibility with this mod.
Fluidlogged API adds a fluid logging system similar to water logging from versions 1.13+, but supporting any fluids, including those added by other mods! Oceanic Expanse is automatically compatible with Fluidlogged API, provided you don't use it in an already existing world!
