Oceanus
The Oceanus mod offers a unique approach to limiting the game world, creating a natural boundary without using visible barriers. As you move away from the spawn point, land generation gradually stops, forming a vast ocean that surrounds the central part of the world.
Parameter Configuration
All mod parameters can be configured through configuration files in the directory data/oceanus/worldgen/density_function/configurable.
Main settings include:
- Normal generation radius - area around the spawn point where the world generates in standard fashion
- Transition zone - band where land gradually gives way to ocean
- Mushroom islands - option to enable or disable mushroom island generation in the open ocean
- Center offset - allows shifting the center of the normal generation zone
- Ocean variability - setting for underwater terrain diversity
Default Values
- Normal generation radius: 5000 blocks
- Transition zone width: 2000 blocks
- Mushroom islands: enabled
- Offset: none
- Ocean variability: 30%
Compatibility
Oceanus is compatible with most mods and data packs that don't drastically alter world generation. This includes popular biome mods. If the mod doesn't work correctly, try changing the load order - Oceanus should usually be at the end of the list.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with large biomes?
Yes, fully compatible.
Can it be used in existing worlds?
Yes! Generation within the normal generation radius remains unchanged. The main thing is not to explore areas beyond it or be prepared to regenerate chunks. It's recommended to create world backups.
Will there be a port for versions before 1.19?
No, because before this version, data packs couldn't alter world generation.
