The Ore Reeds modification introduces an innovative approach to obtaining valuable resources in Minecraft. Instead of endless mining expeditions, you can cultivate various ores and gems directly on the surface, significantly simplifying the resource replenishment process in the late game.
Growing Features
The ore reed production system requires specific conditions for successful growth:
- Planting foundation: Reeds can only be planted on special foundations:
- Gem Essence (white foundation) - for diamonds, emeralds, lapis lazuli, gold, Ender pearls, and blaze rods
- Ore Essence (black foundation) - for coal, iron, redstone, Nether quartz, glowstone, obsidian, and clay
- Thermal source: Plants must be located near lava for proper development
- Growth time: Average growth duration is 36 minutes - twice as long as regular sugarcane
Processing Technology
Converting grown reeds back into useful resources is accomplished through special crafting recipes:
- 8 reeds: diamonds, emeralds, iron, gold, Ender pearls, blaze rods
- 4 reeds: coal, lapis lazuli, obsidian, Nether quartz
- 1 reed: redstone, glowstone dust, clay ball
Component Creation
To get started with the modification, you need to create foundations and reeds:
Foundations (shapeless crafting)
- Ore Essence: created exclusively using coal
- Gem Essence: special foundation for precious resources
Reeds (shaped crafting) Specialized crafting recipes for each reed type, providing variety of cultivable resources.
Strategic Importance
Although initial farm setup requires significant time and resource investments, long-term benefits become apparent in the late game stages:
- Infinite renewal of resources
- Simplification of equipment repair process
- Reduced dependence on traditional mining methods
It's recommended to start farm construction in advance due to prolonged plant growth time.
