
Origins Dumbed Down
This is a straightforward and minimalist add-on for the Origins mod, born from my personal desire to simplify the origins system. Since there are virtually no similar projects available, I decided to share it with the community.
The Core Concept
The add-on's foundation is the idea to completely replace all base origins with new variations. They add unique character and personality to gameplay without drastically altering it. Unlike original limitations (such as being unable to breathe on land), these have been removed. There are no overpowered abilities either that would make standard game progression meaningless—like flying.
Instead, the focus is on passive abilities and minor mechanic adjustments that make the game slightly more diverse without overwhelming it with complexity. Simply put, origins minimally affect your playstyle and allow you to do everything you normally would, even in groups with different character types.
Technical Details
When using the data pack version, ensure it loads after the main Origins mod. If you're using the Forge version—nothing needs to be done, everything configures automatically. Compatibility with Fabric is present, but there's a risk of incorrect loading. If issues occur—switch to the data pack version.
⚠ Important: the Origins mod is required (versions for Fabric and Forge available).
⚠ The Pehkui mod is also required.
List of Origins
All available character types in this add-on are listed below. Descriptions should be taken literally:
Human (---)
- #Blessed: A daring player, endowed with natural luck!
Arthropodic (×--)
- Limber: A flexible climber who can scale several blocks on any surface. Climbs up and down faster. Tip: sneak to climb unsuitable surfaces!
Avian (××-)
- Lightweight: Smaller and lighter. Moves more elegantly in the air. Takes no fall damage. Note: sneaking causes falling and damage like a regular character.
Feral (××-)
- Petite: Very small and constantly hungry—moves swiftly on land.
Fireborn (×--)
- Fiery: A fiery being capable of resisting fire damage, swims in lava more confidently. The trade-off—rapid exhaustion. Important: full exhaustion temporarily removes all fire immunity.
Golemlike (×××)
- Massive: Tall and extremely sturdy. Takes less damage, deals more, and is harder to knock back.
Merean (×--)
- Gilled: A unique amphibian. Can breathe with both lungs and gills simultaneously, increased swimming speed and resource gathering underwater. Leaves a trail of bubbles while swimming! Requires swimming to activate the gill breathing system.
Stalwart (××-)
- Efficient: Stately and agile module. Has extended reach distance, resource gathering and health recovery occur faster.
