Palimpsest

With this mod, you can erase maps and books for reuse by simply rubbing them with redstone dust.

Historically, a palimpsest is "a manuscript page, either from a scroll or a book, from which the text has been scraped or washed off so that the page can be reused for another document". In ancient times, writing materials were expensive to produce, so they were reused whenever possible.

The mod adds shapeless crafting recipes - when one of the following items is rubbed (i.e., crafted) with redstone dust, it turns into a blank version of the item (consuming the redstone dust in the process):

• Filled Map
• Mega Map (for versions 1.14.4+)
• Written Book
• Writable Book
• Enchanted Book

Usage Examples

Collected some enchanted books with weak enchantments you don't need? Recycle them into regular books for creating new enchantments.

Accidentally created multiple filled maps of the same area? Erase the duplicate maps to use them again.

Using Bibliocraft's Atlas with filled maps but accidentally created a map of the wrong scale level? Just erase it!
