Personal Effects [FORGE]
Tired of waiting for your favorite grave mod to update to newer versions? Personal Effects is a simple solution for lazy players that saves your items and experience when you die.
How the Mod Works
When your character dies, the mod automatically saves all items from your inventory, including armor, hotbar items, and accessories from mods like Curios, into special Personal Effects Box containers that you've previously placed in your ender chest. You can use multiple containers simultaneously for maximum security.
The mod intelligently combines items to save as many things as possible in limited space. Important: items with the "Curse of Vanishing" enchantment are not saved, and items from non-standard inventories may also not be preserved.
Experience Saving Configuration
To save game experience, use special versions of containers that support this function. If you have many valuable items or accessories, it's recommended to use reusable 64-slot containers, especially if returning to the death location would be difficult.
Commands for Convenience
/pefput
— place an empty container in your ender inventory without access to an ender chest/pefget
— retrieve contents of the last filled container directly
These commands don't open your ender inventory, they only manage containers.
Compatibility with Other Mods
Personal Effects works alongside other item-saving mods. By default, it executes at the end of death event processing so other mods can trigger first. However, you can configure it to work at the beginning of the process if you want to use it as an additional option for advanced players.
If the keepInventory
game rule is active, the mod doesn't perform any actions.

Usage in Versions Before 1.19
For older Minecraft versions, the process is slightly different:
- Create one or more black shulker boxes
- Rename each one "Personal Effects"
- Place them in your ender chest
After death, the mod saves your inventory into these shulker boxes, prioritizing valuable items over common blocks like cobblestone or dirt.
Container Reset (Versions Before 1.19)
After respawning and retrieving your items, you need to reset the shulker box for next use:
Don't forget to return the empty container back to your ender chest!
