Phosphor
Current Maintenance Status
Development of the Phosphor mod is currently suspended due to lack of time and resources. Starting from Minecraft version 1.20, the game has undergone significant improvements to its lighting system, and most of the optimizations offered by this mod have become irrelevant or useless.
(The following is the original description of the mod in its historical form.)
Phosphor is a modification for Minecraft aimed at optimizing one of the game's most inefficient systems - the lighting mechanism. The mod works on both the client and server sides, and can be installed on servers without requiring client installation.
Thanks to Phosphor, the time required to generate new chunks is significantly reduced, and unpleasant FPS drops caused by chunk loading on the client disappear.
This is a no-compromises solution for improving performance in both single-player games and large multiplayer servers, while not changing any vanilla game features or behaviors. Our consistent commitment to not altering vanilla mechanics has even led to the mod being officially permitted for use in Minecraft speedrunning.
Installation
Make sure you have the latest version of Fabric Loader installed, then simply place the mod file in the mods folder. No other mods or additional setup (not even Fabric API!) is required. You don't need to create new worlds to take advantage of this mod.
