Pojav + Sodium = Podium

A minimal Mixin-based mod that disables the PojavLauncher check in the Sodium modification. Requires Sodium to be installed. if (isUsingPojavLauncher()) throw new RuntimeException(\

Important Note

This mod does not guarantee Sodium compatibility with all devices or graphics systems. Compatibility issues remain your responsibility.

System Requirements

  • Minecraft: 1.20 and newer
  • Loader: Fabric 0.15 or newer, or NeoForge
  • Java: 21 or newer
  • Sodium: 0.5.13 or newer
  • Launcher: PojavLauncher with MobileGlues or LTW

Installation

  1. Download the latest version of Podium.
  2. Make sure you have Fabric Loader or NeoForge installed in your PojavLauncher or Amethyst instance.
  3. Place the podium-1.1.0.jar file in the mods folder along with Sodium.
  4. Use a supported renderer such as LTW or MobileGlues.
  5. Launch the game. If everything works correctly, Sodium will no longer crash due to the Pojav check.

Why are Sodium and PojavLauncher Incompatible?

Sodium completely replaces Minecraft's standard rendering engine with a more efficient one, but this has its consequences. PojavLauncher often experiences issues with mods that alter rendering in non-standard ways, which is exactly what Sodium does.

These incompatibilities led to crashes and graphical artifacts when using Sodium in Pojav. As a result, users (mostly children) flooded Sodium support channels with questions about problems that weren't actually the mod's fault. This quickly became annoying, so the Sodium team added a launcher check.

Initially, it was just a warning, but starting from Sodium 0.6.13 (or 0.5.13 for 1.20.1), the game now crashes when PojavLauncher is detected.

JellySquid, the creator of Sodium, has stated that the PojavLauncher check will remain in the mod.

Why is This Mod Needed Then?

Excellent question.

Yes, Sodium and Pojav have historically been incompatible, but the situation is changing. Pojav uses so-called renderers that serve as a compatibility layer between the game's graphics code and mobile hardware. Old renderers were notoriously bad: either very slow or completely non-functional with anything beyond vanilla Minecraft.

But now we have MobileGlues and LTW - two new renderers that significantly improve both compatibility and performance:

  • MobileGlues: Developed by Swung0x48 and others, offers stable compatibility and decent performance.
  • LTW: Created by Artdeell, provides amazing performance and excellent compatibility with Sodium.

Thanks to these renderers, using Sodium in PojavLauncher no longer guarantees crashes and graphical issues. Podium simply removes the crash mechanism.
