Primitive Mobs
Mod Overview
The Primitive Mobs mod significantly expands the Minecraft world by adding 25 unique creatures that fit organically into the vanilla game's aesthetic. You'll encounter both peaceful and hostile mobs, each with their own behavioral characteristics and mechanics.
Peaceful Creatures
Chameleon
These amazing reptiles inhabit forests and jungles during the day. They can change color depending on surrounding blocks, including modded blocks and textures from resource packs. Chameleons can be tamed with melons and bred with fermented spider eyes. Tamed individuals will follow you. Right-click with an empty hand to make them sit still. Drops camouflage dye for creating special armor.
Lost Miner
These hardworking creatures live underground. If you lead them to the surface (above level 50 where the sky is visible) or bring them to a village, they will reward you with 2-4 emeralds and transform into regular villagers with the miner profession. You can enable this profession to spawn in villages through settings.
Traveling Merchant
These unique traders offer exclusive goods that cannot be found in regular villages. They follow players who show them emeralds. To prevent them from despawning, you can bribe them with an emerald block.
Hostile Mobs
Treasure Slime
These nocturnal creatures spawn throughout the Overworld and contain various items inside. Rare items like diamonds are extremely uncommon. Sometimes you may encounter a tameable slime without any item inside - use a slimeball to tame it.
Haunted Tool
Nocturnal creatures that spawn with tools. Higher quality tools like diamond ones are rare. Use a sword with Looting enchantment to obtain tools with better durability.
Creepers
The mod adds several types of creepers with unique behaviors:
Rocket Creeper:
Jumps into the air and falls on the player, exploding. Drops gunpowder, firework star (rare), and mystery egg (very rare).
Festive Creeper:
Throws small TNT blocks but runs away when approached. Terrain destruction from explosions can be disabled in settings.
Support Creeper:
Enhances nearby mobs with potion effects (fire resistance, strength, speed). Becomes aggressive at low health.
Special Creatures
Mother Spider
Becomes stronger and more aggressive when her babies are attacked. Rarely drops a spider egg that can hatch into a tamed baby spider. Babies can be fed fermented spider eyes to grow and you can even ride adult spiders.
Troll
A powerful creature with three attack types: throwing blocks, ground smash, and regular melee attack. Detects players from far away. Turns to stone in daylight - vulnerable only to pickaxes in this state.
Mimic
Chests in caves might be mimics! The chance to encounter a mimic, mob trap, or regular loot chest is roughly equal. Rarely drops a mimic orb for turning regular chests into mimics.
Unique Items
Camouflage Armor: Crafted from camouflage dye and leather armor. Changes color like a chameleon. A full set significantly reduces the player's detection range by mobs.

Wonder Sap: Obtained from grove sprites when using bone meal. Allows converting one type of logs into another.

Settings and Integration
The mod requires MultiMob dependency to work. All mob spawn settings are configured through the MultiMob config.
The mod integrates with popular mods:
- Just Enough Resources - displays trades and loot
- JourneyMap - mob icons on the mini-map
- More Dyeable Armor - camouflage dye support
Loot tables can be customized through data packs in versions 1.13+ or through the loot_tables folder in earlier versions.
