Realistic Terrain Generation Plus
Realistic Terrain Generation Plus is an enhanced version of RTG that significantly enriches landscapes with diverse forest areas featuring unique tree compositions, varying heights, and different planting densities. The extension perfectly complements RTG's basic capabilities for creating realistic terrain: wide rivers, deep lakes, mighty mountain ranges, gentle hills, and endless plains.
Forest Generation Features
The original mod version has been substantially improved and now includes multiple variants of standard trees: oaks, spruces, birches, acacias, and dark oaks are represented across a wide range of sizes. Large specimens are created using fractal generation that ensures each tree's uniqueness. Forest areas vary significantly in characteristics:
- Different botanical composition: from monocultures to complex mixed plantations
- Density: from sparse groves to impassable thickets
- Height: from low shrubs to gigantic forest giants
Using the Mod
To start playing, you need to create a new world with "RTG" generation type. For maximum landscape variety, combining with Geographicraft is recommended, although the mod works excellently standalone for basic generation.
Improvements and Fixes in the Latest Version
Numerous enhancements have been made since the previous RTG release:
- Increased depth of scenic lakes
- Reduced water level in rivers
- Removal of excess stone along shorelines
- Optimization of forest tree generation to prevent freezes
- Improved mesa appearance with more rugged structure
- Enhanced canyon design for better traversability
- New methodology for growing trees from seedling groups
- Fixed issue with disappearing leaves on willows
- Full compatibility with all BoP and Thaumcraft biomes
- Enhanced scale of savanna landmarks
Growing Special Trees
Seedlings planted individually without adjacent saplings develop into standard vanilla trees.
The 2×2 pattern for growing characteristic vanilla trees (jungle, spruce, dark oaks) continues to work unchanged.
The key feature of the mod is the ability to grow specific RTG trees from groups of oak, birch, spruce, acacia, and dark oak seedlings arranged in a 3×3 area with a central sapling.
Oaks, birches, and spruces: The more seedlings in the 3×3 area, the taller the resulting tree.
Two adjacent oak seedlings produce:
Six oak seedlings across a 2×3 area create:
Note: Size and shape may vary for large specimens
Two birch seedlings develop into:
Six birches within a 3×3 array form:
Two spruce seedlings adjacent produce:
Six spruces in a 3×3 area grow into:
Special Configuration: Three oak seedlings forming an obtuse angle:
Gives rise to a swamp willow:
Acacias: Two acacia seedlings:
Note: Due to the impressive size of standard acacias, the algorithm may generate a vanilla variant
The largest RTG acacias approximately correspond to the result of planting four seedlings:
Larger groups form even more impressive trees.
Dark Oaks: Two seedlings produce an RTG variant for forest areas:
Three seedlings create an alternative variant:
A 2×2 square, as previously noted, yields a standard dark oak. Other dark oak configurations remain barren.
