Realistic Torches
The Realistic Torches modification makes fire-based lighting mechanics more dynamic and realistic, adding survival elements to the gameplay.
Main Features
Limited Burn Time
Torches, lanterns, and campfires now have limited operational duration. The burning period can be customized according to personal preferences.
Environmental Effects
Rainfall and contact with water can extinguish various light sources. The intensity of this effect can be adjusted using special multipliers in the settings.
Reignition System
Special igniters (such as flint and steel, matches, blaze rods) are used to resume the operation of extinguished torches, lanterns, and campfires. The available set of lighting tools can be customized through JSON files.
Fuel Addition Mechanics
Using materials defined in JSON (such as coal or sticks), players can extend the burning time of all types of light sources - campfires, lanterns, and torches.
Flexible Configuration
Every mechanic of the mod is subject to individual settings. Players can enable or disable any features: burn time, extinguishing conditions, dynamic lighting support, and much more.
Data Management
Custom igniter and fuel settings are loaded from data/torchesbt/igniters/ and data/torchesbt/fuels/ folders, allowing easy adaptation of the mod to specific modpacks or servers without the need for code editing.
Dynamic Lighting (Optional)
The mod supports the dynamic lighting function. When activated, torches and lanterns held in hands or dropped on the ground gradually lose their remaining burn time.
User Notes
- The modification is in an early development stage. Conflicts with other mods that alter the functionality of torches, lanterns, or campfires are possible.

- Adding compatibility with hanging lanterns
- Creating a universal system for generating items and blocks for standard torches and lanterns
- Considering the possibility of returning the burn time indicator to the interface instead of displaying it on the item
- Developing a balanced mechanic for automatic refueling for late game stages
