Reel Fishing
Reel Fishing is an evolving server-side mod for Fabric that introduces a fishing mini-game, modular fishing rods, new fish, terrible puns, and much more to Minecraft.
To begin your fishing adventure, first craft a Fishing Rod Bench, where you can assemble a Modular Fishing Rod consisting of a rod, reel, and hook.

Rods
Any type of wood can be used to create a rod, and each type will behave differently.
Rods have two main properties: Stability and Obstruction Zone.
Stability affects how well you can hold the rod. A less stable rod will make the mini-game faster and more difficult to catch fish.
Obstruction zones are the area of the mini-game that the rod blocks. More stable rods are likely to have a larger obstruction zone—the price you pay for added stability.
Reels
Reels can be crafted from wood, bamboo, and copper. Better reels require Bonework Mechanisms to be made.
Reels slow down the fish's escape: the stronger the reel, the slower the fish will get away.
Hooks
Hooks can be made from iron or fish bones.
Hooks have Power and Fish Category. For example, an Iron Hook has moderate power and is best for catching Shallow fish. Hooks are only half as effective when used for fish outside their category.
Some fish categories can only be caught with specific hooks. For instance, Deep fish can only be caught with a Weighted Hook.
Other Features
- Over 16 new fish to catch, to be exact—17 fish. Technically, there are 21, but 4 cannot be caught currently.
- Biome-based fishing: different biomes have different fish. Explore and see what you reel in!
- Fish Bones: eating cooked fish will occasionally yield Fish Bones, which can be used to upgrade your fishing equipment.
