Structure Example

Restructured mod utilizes schematics created by tools like WorldEdit to enhance village and world generation in Minecraft. The installation package includes the Restructured.jar file along with several ready-made schematics and configuration files for quick setup. You can easily add your own schematics to the configuration to expand your modpack content.

Mod Features

Restructured is designed as a server-side mod, allowing servers using popular modpacks to enrich their world with additional structures without requiring players to install extra mods. The modification can also be included in modpacks, providing authors with the ability to add unique content.

Installation

  1. Download the Restructured.jar file from the downloads section and place it in the ./minecraft/mods folder.
  2. Launch the game and enjoy the new features!

Configuration and Usage

The mod uses information from the ./config/restructured/schematics.cfg file to manage its operation. The configuration file tells the modification which schematics to use as village structures or world features, and how to populate blocks like spawners and chests.

The ./config/restructured/chest.cfg file defines various chest configurations that will be used by Restructured when generating structures. Loot tables are fully customizable, and modpack authors can add new ones. (For those interested in technical details: these tables are integrated into Forge's ChestGenHook loot system.)

Creating Custom Structures

For creating your own structures, I recommend using WorldEdit. This tool works excellently on Bukkit/Cauldron servers. Any mobs placed in your build will be captured and added by Restructured during structure generation. Schematics you want to include should be placed in the ./config/restructured/schematics folder.

For optimal results, ensure you're facing SOUTH when creating the structure. From this orientation, you'll see the "front" of the building. If the structure is intended for villages, add a gravel path for smooth connection with existing village roads. Avoid using item frames - they may work incorrectly. Signs work well, and text is preserved. For better compatibility between modpacks, use standard blocks and entities from Vanilla Minecraft.

Using Third-Party Schematics

You can use existing schematics from third-party websites. Here are some recommendations for their use:

  • Ensure schematics are intended for version 1.7.10. Using schematics for Minecraft 1.8.x may lead to unexpected results.
  • Make sure schematic usage aligns with your goals. Schematic authors retain rights to their works and may impose usage restrictions.
  • Check that the schematic contains only the blocks you want to see. Sometimes schematics may include ender chests or expensive hidden blocks. Also check chest contents - TileEntity information is preserved in the schematic.

Development and Support

If you have suggestions for improving the modification, use the issue tracker to submit requests. If you have an interesting building schematic you'd like to add to the mod, create a pull request with the new schematic for consideration.

Modpack Usage

Restructured is distributed under MIT license, meaning free inclusion in modpacks without mandatory attribution or links to the mod page.
