Ruined Equipment
About the Mod
The Ruined Equipment mod offers a unique approach to worn-out gear in Minecraft. Instead of your tools and armor disappearing completely when they wear out, they transform into "ruined" versions that can be repaired or kept as memorable souvenirs.
Key Features
Equipment Transformation
When tools or armor reach zero durability, they don't disappear but transform into ruined versions. This works for:
- All standard tools and swords
- All types of armor (including turtle shells)
- Shields
- Additional items: shears, flint and steel, bows, crossbows, tridents, fishing rods
- Modded equipment: creates "Ruined Item's Ashes" without special textures
Data Preservation
Ruined items retain all their NBT data, including names, enchantments (though they stop functioning), dyes (for leather armor), and shield patterns.
Restoration Options
You have several options for dealing with ruined items:
- Keep as memory - preserve forever as souvenirs
- Simple repair - combine in crafting grid with same ruined item or normal version (loses additional properties)
- Full restoration - use anvil with appropriate materials to preserve all properties
- Empowerment - special procedure for enhancement
Special Functions
Item Empowerment
By combining a ruined item with netherite scrap in an anvil, you can make it "empowered." When restoring such an item, all enchantments reach maximum level.
Adding Lore
Using name tags in an anvil, you can add descriptions to ruined items. These descriptions are preserved during restoration, allowing you to personalize equipment in survival mode.
- Can add multiple description lines
- Use a name tag named "clear" to remove all lore
Mending Repair
Ruined items with the Mending enchantment can be repaired by holding them while collecting experience.
